Marilyn previously served a four year term as Douglas County Commissioner and several years on the Douglas County Planning Commission. That experience in public service instilled in her a strong working knowledge of Oregon's tough land use system. The highlight of her term in office was authoring the first in the nation resolution opposing the Supreme Court’s Kelo Decision. Her resolution was used as a model by other governments across the nation condemning the practice of using eminent domain to steal private property in order to resell it to the highest bidder.

A fifth generation Oregonian, Marilyn and her husband John raised three children on their ranch in Yoncalla, Oregon. They both enjoy showing and training cutting horses on their Halo Trail Ranch. Marilyn has served as a sanctioned judge for the National Cutting Horse Association and continues to show cutting horses.

A former owner of The Roseburg Beacon Newspaper, Marilyn published a weekly column for more than 20 years and continues to publish whenever possible. Her love of freedom and property ownership is the driving force behind her achievements. Her desire is to help you find the perfect property and make Oregon your home!
